When You Move Into a New Home

This is the big one. You have no real way of knowing how many keys exist for your new place, or who has them, a previous owner, a contractor, an old roommate of the last tenant. Rekeying right after moving in is one of the cheapest, most effective security steps a new homeowner can take.

After a Breakup or Roommate Change

If someone who used to live with you no longer should have access, rekeying closes that door, literally. This applies whether it ended well or not.

After a Break-In
